2016_4_26 Beth's birth
Sms timeline:
Hi all. We've booked into the clinic. Midwife says Steph is 5cm dilated. She wants more movement from baby and more dilation, so we're headed to zoo lake for two laps walking around, and some warm lunch, before heading back to clinic. Midwife thinks we have about another 4 -6 hours to go. Steph is being a trooper! Keep you updated.

We are between 7 and 8cm dilated. Gail broke the water because she wanted to make sure there was no meconium due to the heart rate being so high. Luckily water was clear but now the contractions are getting stronger. Beth's heart rate has also come down which is good. The nurses will come in soon to set up the water bath area. Still a couple of hours to go.

Steph still at 8cm. Things have slowed a bit. Reassessing at 17:30 when they might give her some light meds - like Buscopan -to get things moving along. Some of her contractions have been pretty strong, vomiting a few times. Becoming quieter, warm bath we will try just now.

Not much change, so Steph just received an Atarax injection as a muscle relaxant. Steph finds motion helps. Luckily our double room allows for us to pace up and down till we wear a hole in this concrete floor.

Still too slow. Contractions need to be stronger. Going on a drip for Oxytocin, this should give us the push we need. Thankfully her nausea has subsided and she is lying on the bed.

We are proud and thrilled to announce the birth of our beautiful daughter, Elizabeth Dante Enslin at 20:27 this 26th of April 2016. Weighing in at a petite 2.75kg and 49cm long, she came into this world through a water birth. Mom was a soldier the while way through, and Dad had to be stopped from running through the hallway with sheer delight. Steph and Elizabeth are doing well and feeding in bed.

Morning All. Just a quick update. Beth is sleeping well, and is continually improving with the feeding/latching process. The paediatrician has given her a clear bill of health. An audiologist will be coming around before we check out around 12. Dad had a blast with the first few nappies! Mom and Dad are a tad sleep deprived but very much in love with this little miracle.
