After another night of sleeping on the floor of klia2 airport and McDonald's breakfast to get us going, we caught our 2 hr and 45 min flight to Chiang Mai in Thailand. Thankfully there were empty seats on the flight and Scott let me sleep on his lap the whole way!
Thank heavens for countries whose airports have taxi counters and u don't have to barter the price! We went straight to our hotel and amazingly they let us check in at 9am. Then we grabbed a scooter from we the guy across the road for r70 a day, and were off...about 100 m, and then the scooter broke down, and despite pushing it to the petrol station and putting in R7 worth of petrol, it was still dead...so we were back! Second scooter went like a bom and we were off with Scott driving like a pro on the busy Thai streets. We found the more tourist centre of town, with fun restaurants and streams of water. After getting lost we stumbled across a coffee shop overlooking the river and had a game of chess.
We managed to find our way back to the hotel and its two swimming pools and some good naps
After a delicious late afternoon snack that restored our faith in yummy food after Malaysias disappointment,
I had my first scooter lesson with a very patient passenger! And also rode over a white kitten! But thank heavens it stopped walking forward, cause I wasn't stopping :) we then did a driving tour of some of the downtown temples, stopping to look at two
We found the night market in the evening which was very touristy, but had yummy food (papaya salad). We then followed the sounds to a roof too blue 'bar'
