What a day, we are exhausted. The snow was beautiful but it made things quite difficult with Beth. The main problem was she hates her snow suite, so it is always a fight to get it on. She cried and cried with her snow shoes on so we didn't even bother with them. As a result her toes got very cold in thick socks and her south African winter shoes. Then at lunch time while walking down the road she started screaming and only stopped when we took off the socks and shoes. She would only allow us to put the shoes on and wanted to throw away the socks. Even took them out my hands after saying please and put them down on the chair on the opposite side from me.
With the snow we decided to go to the metropolitan museum. So did the rest of New York. I'm so glad we got there early! But they were very efficient so the queues moved. Scott was in his element with all the art! The museum is right next to central park so we took a snowy path up into the park. It was beautiful! But the snow was very heavy so we didn't stick around long. That was when the wheels started to fall off with Beth. We couldn't figure out if maybe she was upset to leave the park? Cause she kept on pointing back. But that was when the shoe debacle happened. So we ended up in the subway barefoot :)
Then we popped down to grand central station and it was chaos so we left. Then we got confused getting home and went to the wrong station that involved a 6 block walk through the snow. Beth was still going strong though. We made it back to our previous nights accommodation to pick up our bags. We debated getting an uber for $100 but decided against it. We knew we would regret that decision :)
After our next subway trip we had to walk a block to Pennsylvania station to catch the train to New Jersey. Beth had a melt down just outside the station and then completely lost it next to a Christmas tree in the station. Scott made the good point that we had stopped there for a bit and were getting ready to leave and maybe she was upset about having to move again and just wanted to stop after a busy day. the snow and weekend queues just made it difficult to stop. She lay on the floor and cried and cried and every time we picked her up she would arch her back. So we used the video of her on the drums and she eventually calmed down.
Then it was a mad dash for the train cause they only announce the platform 10 min before departure and everyone wanted to take the same lift!!! Beth enjoyed the 20 min chilling on the train. Then it was off and onto a shorter train ride from terminal to terminal within the Newark airport. We got to the one parking garage where the hotel shuttles come. I thought we would have to walk to the hotel from the original train station so it was a pleasant surprise that we could get into the airport and get picked up! Though we had to wait around 20 min so Beth and I rode the elevator and lift :) so what Google Maps said was a 1 hr 10 min trip took us around 3 hrs.
